Being & Becoming: Norsk
Being & Becoming: Norsk is an on going series that continues to expand into other media. It's current title addresses my heritage as the descendant of Norwegian immigrants, Norsk meaning Norwegian. In these photographs I am exploring the visual language of spaces in Norway as well as portraying the family members who inhabit them. In order to study the loss of cultural knowledge and the dichotomy it creates between my inherited ethnicity and my American nationality, I seek to reconstruct a Norwegian identity for myself through both performative and documentary works.
